Album Review: Evanescence – Evanescence (iTunes Deluxe Version)

In recent years, while many had forgotten the name Evanescence (or thought the group had broken up), those of us who have been fans since the beginning were waiting patiently for new material. The band remained completely silent, hardly ever updating fans on what was going on. Writing for the album began in 2009, but due to the band changing producers and wanting to write more material, the release date kept getting pushed back.

It’s been five years since the release of the group’s second album, The Open Door, and eight since the release of debut Fallen. Now, Evanescence present us with their self-titled LP, a pounding, rollercoaster ride of an album that will command your attention for its entirety.

Here’s What I Think About…The Matt Wilson vs. Thomas Nassiff Debate

While scanning my Tumblr dashboard this morning, I came across a post that was reblogged by my friend Mike Moschetto (the original post came from PupFresh).

I took a look at both of their Twitter feeds and read Mike’s comments on the debate and really got intrigued by it. Being both a music journalist and a band member (and someone who’s never listened to Set Your Goals), I think I’m able to consider all sides of the argument well enough to come up with a sensible opinion. On the other hand, I’m also someone who takes reviews, no matter how big or small, to heart…

Album Review: The Venetia Fair

Before you read this review, there is one thing you must know: The Venetia Fair are not for the faint of heart.

If you look them up online, you’ll find videos of them smashing things with sledgehammers or lighting themselves on fire. If you go to their shows, you’ll see vocalist Benny Santoro rip out his hair or get water spit on you by keyboardist Joe Occhiuti (right after he flips you off). And if you listen to their new EP, The Pits, you’ll get lost in a whirlwind of raucous, heart-racing cabaret-style rock.

Album Review: Automatic Loveletter

Armed with an incredible live show and a bold yet vulnerable frontwoman, Automatic Loveletter is one of the hottest upcoming bands in the scene.

Set to drop on June 22nd, Truth or Dare is the band’s first full-length, boasting twelve tracks of beautiful pop rock from the Tampa, Florida natives.

Album Review: The Jim Ivins Band

I was extremely excited to receive my first request for an album review…but I became even more excited when I saw that two tracks of this band’s album were produced by Ace Enders, a man so inspirational to me that I named my dog after him (true story). Needless to say, the stakes were high…and thankfully, The Jim Ivins Band did not let me down.
