New Music Now: Automatic Loveletter

Juliet Simms is back and badder than ever.

Automatic Loveletter have recently posted a song from their upcoming full-length album, set to release on June 8th. The album, which was previously said to be called The Ghosts We Carry Home (after lyrics from the band’s song “August 28th 3:30 AM”) will be the band’s first full-length after releasing two EPs, 2007’s Recover and 2009’s Automatic Loveletter.

The new track, “Heart Song,” shows the band treading into mainstream pop territory, sounding like an anthemic B-side from Folie à Deux. Because the band is well known for simple pop-punk song structure and emotional lyrics, this jump may be off-putting to some fans. However, this track really proves that Juliet and crew are growing as a band. They’re stretching themselves to be more than just one-trick ponies and they’ve done a fantastic job.

The song bounces along with a fantastic melody and gritty vocals that only Juliet could deliver. It has true rock swagger and gives much hope for an outstanding debut from one of rock’s most talented frontwomen. It’s sure to be a fantastic sing-a-long for live performances. Thanks to A.LL., I’m already counting down the seconds until Warped 2010.

Automatic Loveletter is about to embark on a national tour with Matthew Good. Be sure to check them out when they come to your city!
